I am making a super special snowman gift boxes this year for my nieces and nephews for Christmas! I just had to share what I created! The instructions and materials for making your own will be included, what child wouldn’t LOVE one of these, it’s almost a gift on it’s own!
- 3 boxes per snowman (stackable sizes)
- Permanent Marker (the extra thick tip is the best)
- Ribbon for Scarf
- Ribbon for Hat
- Black Poster Board (approx 1 per snowman)
- Ruler (optional)
I started off going to Walmart and finding some boxes that would work together to stack in a set of 3 with various sized boxes. Next, put the gifts into the various sized boxes and tape them together so that the boxes stay together. The boxes I got from Walmart were sized so that I stacked them vertically instead of horizontally. Once I finished that, I got the permanent marker out and drew on some eyes, nose, mouth, and the buttons of course! After that I wrapped a few strands of very thin ribbon around the box to make a scarf for the snowman. The last thing I did was make the hat for the snowman. This was by far the hardest part of the snowman gift box, as I had no template to use and I actually didn’t have a ruler so that made it even worse, but they turned out OK! If I can do it without a ruler, you’ll be able to also. Whatever shape the top box is will be the shape you want to make bottom of the hat. So since my box was a rectangle, I made the bottom piece of paper a rectangle a couple inches bigger than the box. Then I made a smaller one that would be the top of the hat. The last piece will be about 4 inches tall to go between the two flat pieces to make the hat. I wasn’t being too particular when I made the hat since the kids will be taking it apart anyway and you can’t see the imperfections from far away. So, once you have the pieces and they seem to fit together OK, I just used some tape to connect them on the inside. I used a thicker red ribbon to go along the hat for decoration and to split up all the black on the hat. I hope you enjoy this idea, it was SO fun to make!Make sure to follow Katie's Crochet Goodies on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram, or subscribe to our Weekly Newsletter! :)
