Want that perfect work bench that is the right measurements and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg? Follow along this tutorial and make one that my husband designed and made himself! I am so excited to share this one. We were looking online to see how much they were, and they are extremely overpriced! Why pay for something when you can make it, and customize it?!
Wood – $70-$100 depending on what quality wood you get.
Screws – $10 for all
TOOLS – N/A for us, he already had everything
WOOD & TOOLS:
Here’s the tool set my hubby has:
STEP 1: Sides of the bench frame (make 2) Each corner is secured with 4 screws as seen in the bottom right corner. The left side is the top, and the right side is going to hold the shelf on the bottom.
STEP 2: Take the two side pieces you made in step 1 and place them as shown in the picture below. Add the 6 ft long 2X4’s. MAKE SURE you line them up with the sides (2 inches from the bottom)
STEP 3: Take only ONE of the plywood pieces and cut as shown in the picture below.
STEP 4: Insert shelf and secure with plywood screws.
STEP 5: Add the 2X4 (6 ft long) pieces to the top. Make sure it is all leveled so that the plywood will be even – this will be your bench surface.
STEP 6: This is an optional step (we had an extra piece of 4X4 not shown in materials above. This will give your bench top extra support.
STEP 7: YAY, all done! :)
ALL DONE! :)
If you use this tutorial to make your own, please let me know how it went and add a picture in the comments :) Have a great day!!
All of the credit on this one goes to my creative smart husband! :) Good job babe!
