Want better photos of small items? Make an inexpensive light box from a cardboard box. I am going to share with you the steps to make your own along with pictures of mine, and at the bottom there will be pictures of items in normal lighting versus the same items in the light box. There is quite a difference in the picture quality!! I am so excited to be able to show better pictures for my blog and for my crochet Facebook page.
Cardboard box (I would try to find one that is square, or close to it)
Box Cutter (utility knife)
Something to diffuse light (white tissue paper, tablecloth, muslin cotton)
You will also need
These are the exact same lamps that I bought for mine. I got 2 of the stand alone lamps (for the sides), and one clip lamp (for the top)
Here is a GREAT video that shows how to make one, if you want to watch this first and then read the directions below, you will be golden! :)
On the three sides you want the light to come through, you want to use a ruler and draw roughly a one inch boarder on all sides.
Now, you will cut those pieces out (BE CAREFUL, if you are underage have an adult do it for you), after it should look like this (I didn’t cut the front flaps off until after because it was easier to keep them on)
Now cut off the front flaps and you should have this
Now cover all 3 sides with the fabric or tissue paper you chose. Use the tape to secure the sides down.
Now, take your poster board and cut it to the right width to fit into the box. I left it long so it comes out of the box since it wasn’t hurting anything :)
Here is the light box in action – followed by some outside and inside the box pictures, enjoy!
Leave any questions or comments you have below and I will get back to you as soon as I can! :) If you make one, let me know how it turns out!
